Omanii's poetry has been described as "Life Experience Poetry." He writes about subject matter that everyone can identify with and can relate to viz., step parenting, death and dying, love, black on black crime, racism, teenagers, and the joys of life. His second book "I Wanna Be the Kinda Father My Mother Was" published by New Readers Press and has received numerous awards.

As a poet he talks about what you've experienced in life. As a poet he touches your soul with his words. You'll laugh… you'll cry. As a performer he incorporates music, slides, dramatics and mood in his performances. As an educator in his workshops he teaches others how to put their feelings and emotions on paper. He helps the participants explore and write about their feelings concerning varied subjects, culminating in a poetry booklet for the participants.
